Création Botswana Celebrates Bastille Day with an Exclusive Fashion Showcase at the Residence of France
On Monday, July 14th, 2025, Création Botswana had the extraordinary honour of presenting an exclusive fashion show during the annual Bastille Day celebration hosted by the French Ambassador at the Residence of France in Gaborone. The event marked a defining moment in the programme’s journey, offering the eight Cohort 2 designers an international-calibre runway to unveil their final collections in front of distinguished diplomats, government representatives, private-sector leaders, cultural institutions, and invited guests.
What Is Bastille Day? A Celebration of Liberty, Unity & French National Identity Bastille Day, known in France as La Fête Nationale, is celebrated every year on July 14th. It commemorates the historic storming of the Bastille prison in 1789, an event that sparked the French Revolution and reshaped the course of the nation. The day symbolizes:
● Liberty ● Equality ● Fraternity
It is a celebration of French democracy, cultural pride, and the shared values that continue to shape France’s national identity. Around the world, French embassies and communities commemorate the day through official ceremonies, cultural events, artistic showcases, and collaborative exchanges.
In Gaborone, the French Ambassador hosts a prestigious annual gathering at the Residence of France; an event known for bringing together Botswana’s diplomatic community, business leaders, creatives, and partners to celebrate Franco-Batswana cooperation.
A Truly Special Bastille Day Création Botswana Takes the Stage
This year’s Bastille Day celebration was particularly meaningful, as Création Botswana was invited to present a full fashion showcase featuring the final collections of the programme’s second cohort. For the eight designers selected to showcase at this exclusive event, the moment represented:

- A celebration of their artistic identity and technical excellence
- A rare opportunity to present their work before an influential audience
- A stepping stone toward the next milestone: presenting their collections in France during Paris Fashion Week
